Chapter 4: Algebra Puzzle

3 x 3 Grid

Solution

- 3 pumpkins = 6
- Therefore, one pumpkin represents two.
- 1 pumpkin + 2 cars = 32
- Since one pumpkin is 2,
- 32 - 2 = 30
- The value of two cars is 30.
- Thus, one car represents 15.
- 1 pumpkin + 2 pens = 20
- Since one pumpkin is 2,
- 20 - 2 = 18
- The value of two pens is 18
- Thus, one pen represents 9.

In conclusion, one pumpkin represents 2, one car represents 15 and one pen represents 9.

3 x 4 Grid

Solution

- Since 2 clocks and 2 drums is 54,
- 1 clock and 1 drum = 54 divided by 2
                               = 27
- Since 1 clock and 2 drums is 49,
- 49 - 27 = 22
- One drum represents 22
- Since 1 drum and 2 clocks is 32,
- We also know that 1 drum is 22,
- 32 - 22 = 10
- Thus, one clock would be 10 divided by 2,
- One clock represents 5
- 1 pear and 3 clocks is 44.
- 3 clocks is 5 x 3 = 15.
- 1 pear is 44 - 15 = 29
- Thus, one pear represents 29.

In conclusion, one drum represents 22, one clock represents 5 and one pear represents 29.

Mindmap of Percentage

A video clip that caught my attention

The Black Hole

This video clip is a really interesting one. In this clip, the printer, which was faulty, printed out a BLACK HOLE. This black hole is really unique because it allows objects to pass through it. So, the man in this video decided to test it out by putting the hole near the vending machine to take a snack... and it WORKED!!! The man, who became greedy, decided to steal the money which was locked safely in a safe. To make sure that the safe was empty, he put his whole body inside, and unfortunately, he got stucked there because the black hole slipped from the safe and he could not come out.

What have I learnt from this video clip?
1) We must not be greedy at all times because there is always a consequence behind our actions
2) Sometimes, not what we always want will happen, but what happens, may be a lesson for us
3) Use the 'powers' that we have got wisely
